BNZ Weekly Overview….Tony Alexander
Welcome to the September 18 2014 BNZ Weekly Overview, attached.
The economy’s growth rate has hit a nine year high of 3.6% with construction playing a big role. But while this above average of 2.5% growth will eventually strain resources and push inflation up the pricing risks for now remain muted. Hence no further change in monetary policy until maybe March next year and borrowers for now have time on their hand to decide on fixing at a term of their preference.
Sensible Small Business Finance Options
So you want to start a small business, buy a franchise or establish a home business – but you need a loan to get started and the bank have asked for a business plan with financials and cashflow projections! Or maybe you already have a business and just need to get it better funded. You really just want a simple loan!
There are plenty of banks and finance companies that offer loans, but you really want a small loan for business purposes and you do not want to pay through the nose for it either.
Should You Try A Mortgage Top-Up First?
In many cases a bank will offer a mortgage top-up and this is may be the cheapest form of finance but banks can often treat your application like you are a corporate.
Finance brokers will tell you they hear of many occasions where the bank are unable to assist or impose “rules” that make the process too hard.
Great Resource for all businesses…New or Existing
It is quite amazing as to how much information is available on the Business.govt.nz website.
All businesses whether new or existing should make use of the various templates and resource tools available. I always come across businesses which struggle to make a comprehensive business plan including marketing plans, cash flow forecasts, P & L forecasts etc. The website has all step by step information on how to create the business plan along with all its bells and whistles. And guess what, there is a 25% more chance of you achieving better results if you have a written business plan!!
I encourage everyone to save this website as your favourite or bookmark the same as once you start using the website, you will keep on coming back to it.
